How to setup an ODBC access to the iSeries

  1. Install a version of Client Access Express or iSeries Access on your PC. This will install the Client Access or the iSeries Access ODBC Driver on your PC. iSeries Access is the new version of Client Access Express for Windows.

  1. After the CA ODBC driver is installed, on your PC, open Control Panel and then open the ODBC Data Sources by double clicking. Click the System DSN  tab and click the ADD button. When the Create New Data Source window is displayed, highlight the CA ODBC driver and click the Finish button. This will display the CA Express ODBC Setup window. On this window, click each tab and type in the information that pertains to the system you are accessing. Click the Apply button when you have all your information entered.
